Live-streaming policy
Live-streaming at funerals has become commonplace since the pandemic, to make funeral services accessible for people with health and mobility issues, or living overseas. The London Funeral Singers does not charge clients extra if there is a video or audio live-stream at their service.
We have put processes in place to ensure as far as possible that performers are aware at the point of booking, or in good time beforehand, if a service will be live-streamed. We respect the decision of any performer who declines a job because they do not wish to be filmed.
Despite all of our efforts, live-streams do very occasionally happen that we are not told about in advance. We understand the negative impact it can have on your working experience if you are filmed without prior consent, but we ask performers to take the work on the understanding that this cannot always be avoided.
We always request that any recording from a live-stream is taken offline or made accessible only via private link within three working days after the end of the service. If the family has live-streamed through Obitus the recording may have to stay available online for 31 days, but these links are also available only by private link.
We believe it is fair for families of the deceased to be able to keep a personal copy of the recording of the service free of charge. However we ask every client directly to refrain from posting the recording publicly online or on social media, and to keep the recording only for private use.
Where a family wishes to purchase full rights over the recording we will ask performers’ permission on their behalf, and seek a fee of £85.00 per performer.
