Schubert's Ave Maria

Soloist
“Hail Mary, full of grace”

Ave Maria is our most-requested song, and a universally beloved choice for funerals whether you're religious or not. Traditionally for one solo female voice, the lyrics honour the Virgin Mary and ask for her prayers. We find it creates a beautifully focused moment anywhere in the service, but particularly for the entry procession.

Something different

Popular songs for funerals that don't fall into the category of a hymn. These pieces would be sung just by our singers, and give you a chance to listen and reflect during the service.

“When you walk through the waters, I'll be with you; you will never sink beneath the waves.”

Do Not Be Afraid comes from a Bible passage, and gives a sense of comfort: the idea that someone is looking out for you, even in times of darkness. This piece requires a conductor.

“Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings”

A joyous and uplifting hymn that you'll probably recognise. Many people want their funeral to be a celebration of life, so don't be afraid to choose this sunny tune if it's right for you. Singing a cheerful song like this can help your congregation leave feeling thankful and consoled.
